They lost their "Legend status" at FACEIT Major: London 2018 where they fell to HellRaisers 2:1 in the group stage decider before making the playoffs. They first obtained "Legend status" from the first major, DreamHack Winter 2013 up until ELEAGUE Major: Boston 2018. Fnatic have had the biggest and longest "Legend status" streak, of 12 consecutive majors.Fnatic's former four-player core consisting of JW, flusha, olofmeister and KRIMZ is considered to be one of the best of all time in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive. They are also the first organization to have won back-to-back titles, being the latter two aforementioned events. It was the most played online game in the world between 2001-2005 and nothing else even came close to Counter-Strike's level of popularity during that time period other than Korean Starcraft. Counter-Strike had a very large portion of the esport market share back then because it was pretty much the only team-based esport around. This was before source or cz or world of warcraft or anything was around to fragment the playerbase. SK on the other hand had their streak during cs 1.5/1.6's peak golden years. NIP were the beneficiaries of being the only serious early-adopters of the game and got way ahead of the curve on everyone else. In fact 1.6 still had higher player counts on steam's stats until early 2014. Most 1.6 pros played 1.6 into 2013 and the community hadn't yet been consolidated into CSGO. Also the community was still very fragmented at that time. People were still discovering new things about it every day. Anyone who played the game during 2012-13 can attest to how raw and unrefined the game and the pro-scene was. So many new mechanics were introduced that hadn't been fully, or even partially fleshed out yet. CSGO was completely new when NiP started theirs, and it was such a big departure from 1.6. However, I would argue that SK's run was the more impressive. I suppose if you define skill in a purely mechanical sense you could be right. Comparing skill levels across eras is hard.
